You are coming to Sapporo this winter to ski or snowboard and are wondering what else you can do. ACTIVITIES
Maruyama Skating Rink
From early January to mid-February every year at the Maruyama Athletics Stadium an outdoor ice-skating rink is made.

SIGHTSEEING
Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium
Okurayama Ski Jump is one sight that should not be missed. Stand at the bottom in awe at the size and if you lucky watch someone fly. At the top of the jump, reached by either chairlift or a walk through the bush, you can enjoy a drink or ice cream while overlooking Sapporo City and the Ishikari Plain stretching to the Japan Sea in the north and the mountains in the east. At Okurayama you can also visit the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum where you can re-live moments of the Sapporo Winter Olympics, view historical material of winter sports or try the ski jump simulator.

ear part of the Maruyama Athletes Park is turned into a ice-skating rink. Its opening hours are from 10am to 7pm. Skate rentals are available.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING
 Sapporo and its nieghbouring cities are home to many ski areas. Within an hours drive of Sapporo there is about 15 ski areas. Eventhough some of these areas are very small and flat they are ideal for the first timer or young families looking for a fun day or night as many are open for night skiing.
