SAPPORO DOWNTOWN
There are 3 areas that make up the downtown area and are all very accessible by foot. A 30 minute walk starting at the Sapporo Train Station south will pass you through all of these area. However it is recommended that you take you time to really enjoy what downtown Sapporo has to offer.
Starting at the Sapporo Train Station is the new vibrant tech fashion filled area. Recently rejuvernated with the development of the JR Tower, Stellar Place and Daimaru department store, it is also home to many electronic stores, clothes shop, book shops, and eateries.
Odori, a 10-minute walk south of Sapporo Station, in theory these areas actually run into each other , but typically Odori is known as the area south fo Odori Park .This area is more developed than the more modern Sapporo Station area, consists of Tanuki Kouji and many little street level fashion shops. There is also branches of all the main department stores and bargain sores, and many other shops ranging from Luois Vuton to two 5-storey 100yen shops and Fashion Towers.
5 minutes south of Odori and you are right amongst one of Japan's most famous nightlife and red-light districts, Susukino. Susukino is home to literally thousands of bars and restuarant catering to almost every type off client. Even if nightlfe is really your thing it is recommended that you make the walk through Susukino to get real feel for a what is real Japan. After all it only another 10 minute stroll and your at the end of Eki Mae Dori and at the enterance of Nakajima Koen(park).
